Tour: “Bound to Meet Some Crazy People”

We’re on day two of a six-week string of shows, and it’s been great thus far. I can already tell that the theme of this tour will be “strange coincidences”. In Philly, I met one of my musical heroes in the World Café bathroom. In most situations, I’m too intimidated to say hi to people I have incredible respect for. There’s just no way to avoid it though, when you’re at side-by-side urinals. Thank you public bathrooms!

In Lancaster I played a show with my twin. His name is Alex Brubaker – You can check him out here: www.myspace.com/alexbrubakerguitar. Sure, he has glasses – but I probably SHOULD have had glasses, because everyone else in my family does. It’s been said that everybody has a twin, but I don’t think it’s very often that they actually meet. WE did, and it leaves me with some suspicious questions for my parents.

We pulled up to the venue at the EXACT same time, my car right behind his. Not surprising, we have the same internal clock. I looked at him, he looked at me… we simultaneously said, “Weird.”

We walked into the venue and pulled out our guitars. He played a Taylor and a white strat… So do I. He played experimental acoustic guitar, which isn’t quite what I do – but it’s what I DID do when I was his age. After the show we went to a diner. Without knowing, we ordered the exact same thing – both with wheat toast and over-easy eggs. Crazy, crazy, crazy. That’s all I can say! I hope everyone gets a chance to meet their twin at some point!
